Car Center of Gravity Height or Vertical CG Calculator

By Rob Robinette

This calculator estimates your center of gravity (CG) height, or vertical CG of your car. You can calculate an approximation of your car's Center of Gravity by raising the rear axel at least 10 inches and plugging in the new front wheel weights, wheelbase, rear axel height above the ground while level and axel height after being raised. The higher you raise the rear axle the more accurate the measurement will be. At only 10 inches of lift a 1lb difference on the front wheels equals 0.66 inches of CG height change!

Left Front weight:                      Right Front weight:

Left Rear weight:                       Right Rear weight:

Left Front raised weight:         Right Front raised weight:

Wheel Base =

Axel Height = center of wheel to ground in inches

Raised Axel Height = center of wheel to ground when raised

<  Enter the values above and click the "Calculate" Button.

CG Height = inches above the ground

1. Enter level front wheel weight in Corner Weights section at the top

2. Raise the rear axel at least 10 inches

3. Input the wheelbase, starting rear axel height, raised axel height, and new front wheel weights in above

Honda S2000 Notes: Wheelbase is 94.5 inches
Stock 16 inch rear wheel Level Axel Height is 11.75 (11 3/4) with 32psi
